Krakow (or Cracow) is one of the largest and oldest cities in Poland, with a population of 756,336 in 2007. Situated on the Vistula river (Polish: Wisla) in the Lesser Poland region, known as the city of Kings of Poland. It dates back to the 7th century. It was the capital of Poland from 1038 to 1596, the capital of the Grand Duchy of Krakow from 1846 to 1918, and the capital of Krakow Voivodeship from the 14th century to 1999.
Modern Krakow is a beautiful place or rather a beautiful city centre it has one of Europe's most beautiful main squares but once you go beyond the planti (the green belt park the circles the inner hub of Krakow) and the old Jewish quarter of Kazimierz there is not much to see unless you're a fan of old communist type depressive places or course there are some exceptions but its best...
