I have to say i was shocked and appalled to hear about the treatment of the Romanian families by a racist group up North. What has happened to this country? I realise that we are in the grips of an ecomomic recession and some ignorant individuals seem to think that this is all due to the Eastern Europeans who came to this country in order to give themselves and there families a better life forgetting about the fat cats who run the banks who have pocketed a fortune even though they completley mismanaged our money? Ok even if people see them as a drain on our economy it does not give anyone the right to threathen and abuse these families even claiming they will shoot them if they dont get out. It is not so long ago that there was a mass exodus of people from this country to America and Australia where we were in the exact same boat looking to leave the doom and gloom and create a better life...what are these people doing different do they relly deserve to attend a peaceful march for migrants and have bottles hurled at them and Nazi signs shown or to be run out of there homes? What an embarassment to our country and I hope that these people are found and dealt with accordingly. What do you think....can you see where these people are coming from or are you as shocked by this as i am?

I fully agree with your points ,like you say a vast majority of us were in the same boat years ago and headed all over the world looking for work just to feed our families. Granted we may have faced some prejudice then , but this is the 21st Century surely we as a community welcome these people to our country after all a lot of the jobs these people were employed in many irish people were not interested in at that time .If these people did not come over to work our economy would not have acheived the growth it did . Whom would we have got to fill the thousands of jobs available when the Celtic Tiger was at its peak we needed these imigrants aswell. I hope it is only a small minority of people involed in this predujice/attacks on these people and will be made pay for their actions. With all the scandal with our banks and the country being on the brink of possible bankruptcy we are not being viewed very favourably by the international community at present. We definetly don't need to be viwed as racists on top of all this after all we are now all part of Europe so lets learn to live together after all we may have to emigrate again and expect to be welcomed .

Ok so let me see, you think internationally we are though of as been on the same level as Romanians and also that you might emigrate there..sir i suggest you have never been there or if you have you never left your hotel. While i do not agree with these actions please lets not paint these people as upstanding fellow Europeans. they need to learn to be Europeans not spongers and beggers as a lot of them are.
