Surely it must be immoral in the present day for Real Madrid to be spening such fast sums of money on football players, if I remember correctly its not that long ago 2002 when Real had debts of €200 million euro plus and had to do some land deal with the local council to clear the debt the deal itself being shrouded in mystery.
What do you think do these football clubs not have a moral responsability to to show the way in these tough times or is €80 million justified for one player or for that €200,000 a week a justified wage .

Don't know about immoral, as I don't consider myself a competant judge of morals. Must be some of the company I keep!!
Anyway on a serious note the whole issue of money in sport is contentious. Beckham was only bought by real madrid for his shirt selling ability, same as LA GAlaxy... they wanted the publicity.
As for the poor old league of Ireland...they seem to be a mostly genuine and enthusiastic bunch that run the clubs, but wages are breaking them. The are going to have to get the commercial part of their operations right because otherwise there will be no football clubs left. They will all be in liquidation.

It isn't right, I mean Ronaldo is not worth 80 million if you consider his ianbility to track back and do a shift. But besides my opinion on players, it is still money thats hard to justify. I would like to think that if I was a top player, I would be content with 10,000 a week. Points need to be considered is that a footballers life is short, retiring at about 35 and without any other skills, maybe to shy to be a tv analyse or manage a team then they have 45 years or so to live off the money. But you would think, that considering 100,000 grand is five years average wage, meaning 9 weeks kicking a ball would cover those 45 years, that a bit of economic sense would prevail. They may deserve high wages as a national icon but the figures are to high.
