The comission on taxations is to report soon and it looks like they will be recommending a property tax.The question I have is can the government really expect us to pay another tax based on property that has been bought at over inflated prices with negative equity a terrible reality for a growing precentage of the population.

Not another tax especially on an already property that almost 30% of the country are in negative equity this could be the straw that breaks the camels back . I think it will knock the country's recovery way back and make many thousands homeless

I dont know if it will actually make people homless but it will force people from their homes. What happens when people retire will they be faced with the prospect of having to sell the home they worked all their lives for. Just because they cannot afford to pay the property tax.Why is it that the very people that are struggling under crippling mortgages, leavies and have paid over the odds in the first place are being asked to dig deep. To rescue the very people that made huge profits from the housing boom ie the developers and banks who were with a nod and a wink ably assisted by the politicians of this country.
