Who here is going to use the Local and European Elections that are coming up as a vote of confidence or lack of it in the Government. To me it is hard not to do so but it will be a shame if important local issues are ignored in this vote.

I think it will be hard for anyone not to use this electionas a platform to get the laypersons point accross. We are currently being steered by a group of what i feel are incompetent individuals and led by a Taoiseach who was our Minister for Finance through the good times and yet did not manage to invest our money wisely as in the schools, hospitals and infrastructure nor did he see the need to control inflation and the escalating house prices which was seen by all economists to be a time bomb waiting to explode and which has since left a trail of negative equity behind which has hit alot of first time buyers as in the people who are this countries future. How will this country prosper again if there is a mountain of debt being carried by the younger generation?
Look im not laying all the blame at Mr. Cowens and our governments feet as this is a world wide recession stemming from a seriously flawed banking system but i really think precautions could have been taken and decisions made differently that would have prevented such a sharp turn around in our ecomony. Thats why i feel people actually need to use theirvote to make a point in these elections and if we begin by making changes at a local level the higher echelons might then take notice and wake up to the fact we will no longer stand for the substandard service which we are getting and start fixing problems rather than covering them up. I think Independants are really going to shine in these elections as people are so disillusioned with party politics and lets hope these individuals can make the changes at local levels that will help our country on the slow road to recovery.
