Cut backs are affecting the Dail creche

No it is not a joke the poor folks in the Dail are struggling. The operator of the Leinster House creche wants the government to pay for food, uniforms and art supplies, in order to offset its losses.

The operator has suggested that a number of services including food, cleaning, art supplies, computer supplies, training, uniforms and waste disposal be taken over by the state in order to make the creche financially viable.

The company is also seeking a one-off grant to cover the losses it has made since it won a three-year contract in 2006 to run the creche. The childcare facility is already heavily subsidised by the taxpayer, as the operator does not have to pay overheads such as heating, lighting or rent.

The strange part of this is that all the rest of us are expected to pay for these for our children in creches up and down the country with no subsidy or tax relief.Oh how the other half live.
